Our first camping experience

We took our first camping trip as a family in mid August. The campsite was about 40 minutes outside of Lake Tahoe. It was in the middle of nowhere (no wifi!!), but right next to a river. The kids were anxious to go swimming so after setting everything up we headed down to the river. We even bought them an inner tube, which was a lot of fun. The water where you could swim was pretty warm since it was so hot and sitting in a sunny spot. There were a lot of families around and the campsite had a little playground that the kids played on at night. Overall, we had a nice time.

Yes, the ipad came along.

Georgia immediately went for the dirt.

Such a pretty background!

The view at the other end of the river.

Swimming lessons paying off!

Miles found a pet.

The hammock wasn't set up very well, but Georgia liked to play hide and seek inside.

First campfire of the trip. Getting ready for s'mores!

Good morning! It was FREEZING!

Georgia slept until 9:00 all bundled up in her purple sleeping bag.

Thank God for coffee.

A beautiful sunrise.

The Princess woke up!

We drove to the Lake and had lunch at Gar Woods.

Then we went to the beach and went swimming!

We found another pet! A crawfish!

Peter brought his inflatable paddle board.

Tried to take a selfie, but Georgia wasn't feeling it.

A nice man offered to take our picture. Georgia insisted on being a dog, so another failed picture together.

Campfire #2! Gourmet dinner: hot dogs and corn.

No judging. We needed a little peace.

Okay, so it wasn't as bad as I thought. I did have my wine, the kids did have a great time, and the sleeping in a tent wasn't horrible. It did take me 4 hours to wash everything when we got home, but I guess we'll do it again.
